Right to Buy Supplements Preserved

Score one for the good guys. The Food Safety Bill as originally proposed would have imposed severe restrictions on the availability of supplements to the public. Ultimately, consumers would have needed prescriptions from doctors to buy vitamins! Thanks to Senators Harkin and Hatch, the language was changed so that that is no longer a likely possibility.
Hooray!

Supplements Are Exempted From Codex Language in Food Safety Bill
The FDA Food Modernization Act (S. 510), also referred to as the “Food Safety” bill, has been modified to exempt dietary supplements from language that otherwise creates a slippery slope toward U.S. harmonization with Codex Alimentarius. ANH-USA worked to protect the natural health community from this dangerous provision that threatened access to high quality, therapeutic supplement doses by working with key senators to modify the language, now for the second time.
The most worrisome provision of the bill initially required the Food and Drug Agency (FDA) to recommend that U.S. foreign trading partners harmonize with Codex. This odd language was no doubt very intentional. How could we recommend harmonization to other countries if we rejected it for the U.S.? So in effect we were committing ourselves to a much more restrictive regulatory regime for supplements.
As the Senate moved forward with the Food Safety bill, Senator Harkin (D-IA), committee chair, working closely with Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), promised to see what could be done to make absolutely clear this legislation was not intended to impact our access to dietary supplements. At that time, Senator Harkin modified the Codex provision, asking the FDA to consider “whether and how” to recommend U.S. foreign trading partners harmonize. This was a very important change and a tremendous show of support from both Senators, but we were still concerned that the inclusion of Codex language in the bill could be used to support future U.S. harmonization with Codex standards on dietary supplements.
ANH-USA worked with our allies in the Senate over the past several months to include additional language providing stronger protection for supplements. New language has now been added specifically stating, “Nothing in this section shall be construed to affect the regulation of dietary supplements.”
The Codex Alimentarius was initially developed to establish international food safety standards and regulate ingredients of food products. However, there is great concern that if the U.S. harmonizes with Codex standards, which are expected to follow Europe’s increasing ban on supplements, our access to supplements will be lost and even our food standards may be compromised. Although ANH-USA considers the new exemption a huge victory, it only applies to dietary supplements. The U.S. is still at risk of harmonization with other Codex food standards.
ANH-USA is especially grateful to Senators Harkin and Hatch for their leadership, continued dedication to the natural health community, and most recently, their show of support protecting our supplements from Codex harmonization. The Senate is expected to take up the Food Safety bill any day now. As the legislative process moves forward we will keep our members up to date on our efforts and where appropriate, we’ll ask for your help to protect supplements from increased government intrusion. The House version of the Food Safety bill, already passed, is especially worrisome. We will continue to make every effort, with your help, to ensure that the House version does not become law.

The Fight for Good Food Continues

Back in the 1950's Standard Process founder, Dr Royal Lee (R), spoke of "a conspiracy against good food" as the major menace to human health in the USA. When I first heard him on a tape from that time, I felt that perhaps he had over-stated the case. Yes, there was a problem with food, no doubt, but an actual conspiracy? I doubted that.

But, now I am sure that he was right. When we see the coordinated moves being made throughout the world to control food, food being used as a weapon, the Codex Alimentarius, and this bill before congress now (The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act), I think we can clearly see the outlines of a true conspiracy.

I also have gained some spiritual insights as well that confirm for me that a true conspiracy against real food exists. Look in the Bible and you will see that the very first deception or trick used by the devil in the Garden of Eden involved eating the wrong food. Eating the wrong food had the effect of alienating Adam and Eve from God. Being on the 'outs' with God meant that they could not participate in the on-going works of Creation. The wrong food produced a fallen state in which they could not perform the works of God.

So, isn't it the same today? We have the works of God to perform! We are those who have to bring in the Kingdom of God. So what does the enemy do? He corrupts the food. He knows we cannot perform at the level required if we eat the wrong food that fills our bodies with impurities injuring our minds and spirits as well as our bodies. He waxes rich off the illness and disease produced by the consumption of the wrong foods and exercises maximum social control over the population. We must fight for the right to eat the right food that keeps us in the image and likeness of God, so that we might do the works of God, having Power and Dominion over the earth in His Holy Name.

We should follow up and contact our Representatives in Congress and let them know how we feel about this 'food conspiracy'. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad told us clearly that "fasting with the right food is the cure for all our ills". Well if that is right and it is, then aren't we duty bound to fight for the right food? Why shouldn't we fight "the devil" in order to have the food that God wants us to have? Isn't that a worthy fight?

Citizens.org
The Voice of the Natural Health Consumer
Dear Supporter,
One week ago we alerted you to a well-meaning, but misguided, bill going through a final review by a U.S. Senate committee before going to the floor for a vote.
(Click here to read Citizens for Health (CFH) Board Chair Jim Turner's "Food Safety: Congress Loses Its Way").
"The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act" (S. 510) purported to address growing concerns over the state of food safety in the U.S. but, as written, would have actually strengthened the forces that for the past fifty years have led to unsafe, nutritionally compromised food by giving powerful incentives to large, concentrated food manufacturers (the sources of the most significant threats to our food so far) and undercutting producers of healthy foods and organics that are smaller, safer, and often local. It also would have threatened access to dietary supplements that are safe and protected under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA) and paved the way for harmonizing our food policies with those of the international Codex Alimentarius.
Score Round 1 for CFH members and allies! We can be thankful this week that our voices were heard and that several positive changes were made to this 'turkey" of a bill.
Click here to send a letter to your Representative and Senators telling them to maintain the positive changes, and make the additional ones listed below.
According to CFH Senior Policy Advisor, James Gormley
, the amended version of S. 510 adds three major improvements related to dietary supplements, organics and Codex:
--New language exempts "…any dietary supplement that is in compliance with the requirements of sections 402(g)(2) and 761 of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (21 USC 242(g)(2), 379aa-1)."
--In the case of organics, the new version omits "any requirements that conflict with or duplicate the requirements of the national organic program established under the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990…"
--And, regarding Codex, the original S. 510 recommends harmonization while the amended version suggests only that it is to be considered. (While this is a small improvement, CFH opposes harmonization and is still concerned with other language in the bill which may allow harmonization in "through the back door".)
Clearly the thousands of letters generated by CFH members and allies, as well as visits to Capitol Hill by industry and consumer stakeholders, paved the way for these critical improvements to the bill.
Now, S. 510 must go to the full Senate for passage. Assuming it passes the full Senate, which is 99% likely, both the House-passed and Senate-passed versions will be debated in conference so that an acceptable combined version is approved and ultimately sent to the President.
As consumer grassroots advocates we must remain vigilant since the improvements we've won could be eliminated in conference committee. We also must continue to advocate against the remaining language that still could mandate Codex harmonization (in the Senate version); that could exempt foreign governments (in both versions); and that calls for imposition of martial law via cordoning off potentially affected geographic areas in the case of a perceived food safety threat (in the House version).
We have seen, time and time again, the impact we can have on the decisions of our elected officials. As Margaret Mead once said: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." We must remain actively engaged with our allies and partners on Capitol Hill and with Senator Harkin, even though it has moved out of his committee, if we are to ensure that the final bill meets the standards of the natural health and wellness community.
Send your letter to your Representative and Senators now!

Codex Alimentarius, the Ultimate Evil

World Government's Total Control of Food

In the Beginning of it All, in Genesis, the very first deception of Adam and Eve involved food. Eat food according to God, or eat according to Satan. Today it is the same. In order for Man, in the image and likeness of God, to do the works of God, Man must eat the food of God. Of course, the Devil must, because he is the Devil, oppose this. He must do all he can to see to it that the people of God do not have access to the food of God. Then, there is no doubt, they will be unable to do the works of God, they become pawns in the wicked scheme of Satan, the enemy to all. The end-point of it all is the Death of All.

So now comes Codex Alimentarius, the Ultimate play by Satan today. It actually is Mass Murder through the denial of food: Nutricide. As a member of the World Trade Organization, the World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization, the once sovereign United States of America is bound by international treaty law to implement the Codex Alimentarius on December 31, 2009. This will cede control over all food and nutrition of any sort, including vitamins, supplements, herbs, etc to World Government now coming into being right before our eyes.

View this video to find out all about it. Follow up by going to the web site listed below and get involved in stopping this evil. Sign the petition and get in touch with your Congressional Representatives and let them know that you want this stopped before it is too late.
