The Healthy Control of Anger

Anger is an emotion that is as natural as all the other emotions, but can have negative consequences, like all the other emotions, if not handled correctly. Nothing focuses our attention more on an object or another person than our anger does when we perceive some problem associated with that object or person. If we quickly resolve the problem then our anger served a useful purpose. But if we never resolve the problem then our anger lingers and can become a chronic drag on our health and well being. This can be devastating among a population which feels that it has little or no power to resolve problems but can only live with them. Their chronic seething anger can literally destroy them from the inside.
Or sometimes it can suddenly explode with violent rage.
One easy way I have found that helps to defuse and control my own anger is to simply say silently or out loud, "I am angry!"
This makes my rational mind aware of the anger I am feeling and allows my reasoning ability to decide how it will resolve the problem that caused the anger.
I am now a person who is aware of myself feeling angry, as opposed to an angry person out of control, caught up in the maelstrom of rage with unknown consequences.

The Health Consequences of Anger
When you get angry, your heart rate, arterial tension and testosterone production increases, cortisol (the stress hormone) decreases, and the left hemisphere of your brain becomes more stimulated.
Researchers induced anger in 30 men "Anger Induction" (AI), which consists of 50 phrases in first person that reflect daily situations that provoke anger.
Before and immediately after the inducement of anger, the researchers measured heart rate and arterial tension, levels of testosterone and cortisol, and the asymmetric activation of the brain.
According to Eurekalert:
"The results ... reveal that anger provokes profound changes in the state of mind of the subjects ('they felt angered and had a more negative state of mind') and in different psychobiological parameters."

The feeling of anger, like all emotions, is not isolated in your mind. The mental reaction triggers a cascade of physical reactions that extend throughout your body, including:

Why Unresolved Anger Can be Deadly
Anger is a normal emotion, one that all of us experience from time to time. It’s a feeling that evokes that well-known "fight-or-flight" response, preparing us to defend ourselves physically and psychologically in a conflict. Back when anger corresponded to real threats, this response could be lifesaving, but today it pushes your body into an overdrive mode that is almost always unnecessary.
As soon as you start to get “hot under the collar,” your body starts preparing for a “fight.” Your muscles get tense, your digestive processes stop and certain brain centers are triggered, which alters your brain chemistry.

help you make better choices -- even if you are normally not great at making rational decisions -- because anger can make you focus on that which is important, and ignore things that are irrelevant to the task of making a decision.
In the long run, and sometimes even the short term, however, this automatic response to anger can
weaken your immune system and lead to a variety of health problems such as:
Headaches
Problems with digestion
Insomnia
Increased anxiety
Depression
High blood pressure
Skin problems, such as eczema
Heart attack
Stroke
Not only that, but anger can lead to other negative emotions like bitterness, hopelessness, futility and overall sadness. Let’s face it -- it’s hard to have a good time if you’re holding on to anger.
Feelings of Anger Damage Your Heart
It does not feel good to be angry, and this is a clue that this emotion is also likely damaging your body on a physical level.
This is especially true of your heart, and one study from Washington State University found that people over the age of 50 who express their anger by lashing out are more likely to have
calcium deposits in their coronary arteries -- an indication that you’re at a high risk for a heart attack -- than their mellower peers.
Letting your anger out explosively may be harmful because it triggers surges in stress hormones and injures blood vessel linings.
However, simply holding in your anger isn’t the answer either; this has been linked to increases in blood pressure and heart rate. A new study even found that suppressing your anger may
triple your risk of having a heart attack.
Since it’s a given that you’re going to experience anger from time to time, it’s very important for your health to have a healthy form of release. You don’t want to lash out violently but you don’t want to hold it in either … turns out the best solution is actually somewhere in the middle.
Your Emotional Health is Intricately Linked to Your Physical Health
Negative emotions will invariably impact your physical well-being, and anger is no different. Emotional factors are actually one of the most important contributing factors for all diseases, including cancer.
That is why an effective strategy to manage your emotional stress has long been a part of my top health tools, and this is because there is overwhelming evidence that your mind does matter when it comes to preventing, or triggering, disease.
The idea that your emotions impact your health and the development of disease is not new. Even the conservative Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has stated that 85 percent of all diseases appear to have an emotional element, but the actual percentage is likely to be even higher.
Your emotions can actually
trigger your genes to either express health or disease … and if you’re chronically angry or prone to uncontrolled outbursts you could be inadvertently sabotaging your health.
This is why I highly recommend you work on overcoming your emotional barriers, whether they’re based on life’s anxiety-factors or more deep-seated emotional traumas that may have left you “angry at the world.”
There are a host of techniques to instill positive emotions and thoughts and create a sense of inner-peace, and the best rule is to find the one that works for you, whether it is considered conventional or "alternative," and keep on using it. Prayer and meditation are helpful for many.
In my clinical practice, I have tried a variety of methods, and have been exposed to many more (both conventional and alternative) through my medical background, but none have come close to the success rate I have experienced with the
Meridian Tapping Technique/Emotional Freedom Technique (MTT/EFT).
With EFT, while mentally focusing on the psychological/emotional issues in a positive manner through the use of affirmations, pressure is applied to the same energy points used for thousands of years in acupuncture (these energy points are finally even being recognized as legitimate by the pharmacy- and surgery-addicted American medical establishment.)
These energy points are only tapped, though, not punctured as in acupuncture, as it has been shown that pressure on these points is all that is necessary to activate your body’s bioenergy. This combination of positive mental focus on the issue(s) and physical stimulus to your body’s biochemistry is amazingly effective at eliminating the issue -- be it anger, stress, anxiety, etc. -- quickly.
Life’s Too Short to Live With Anger
Optimal health involves addressing and resolving your anger and other emotional traumas as quickly as possible -- without letting old emotional wounds contribute to more negativity, and therefore disease, in your mind and body.
So in addition to using MTT/EFT as your primary anger-resolution tool, you may also want to try:
Relaxation techniques (slow deep breathing, meditation, prayer, positive imagery)
Empathizing with the person (or situation) you’re angry with
Exercising (vigorous activity is an excellent way to release angry energy that has built up, and gentler exercise, like yoga, can help you calm down afterward)
Asking yourself, “Will this situation matter in 10 minutes? Tomorrow? Next month? Next year?” Most often, situations you’re angry over mean very little in the greater scheme of your life. Keep this question in mind to help you remember that the situation you’re so angry about now will likely be irrelevant in a short time -- and is probably not worth getting worked up over.
When combined, these techniques are extremely effective at both releasing negative energy and putting your mind at ease.

Your body has no biological need for any pharmaceuticals at all. Lie #3) Doctors are experts in health

Doctors don't even study health; they study disease. Modern doctors are taught virtually nothing about nutrition, wellness or disease prevention. Expecting a doctor to guide you on health issues is sort of like expecting your accountant to pilot a jet airliner -- it's simply not something he or she has ever been trained in. That's not to say doctors aren't intelligent people. Most of them have high Iqs. But even a genius can't teach you something they know nothing about.

Lie #4) You have no role in your own healing

Doctors, drug companies and health authorities all want you to believe that your health is determined by their interventions. If you believe them, you have virtually no role in your own health or healing -- it's all managed by their drugs, their screening, their surgeries and their interventions.

Lie #5) Disease is a matter of bad luck or bad genes

Western medicine wants you to believe in the mythology of spontaneous disease -- disease that strikes without cause. This is equivalent to saying that disease is some sort of voodoo black magic and that patients have no way to prevent disease through their own diets or lifestyle choices. It's funny, actually: Western medicine claims to be driven by scientific, rational thinking, and yet the entire industry still fails to acknowledge that chronic disease always has a cause and that most of the time, that cause has everything to do with nutritional deficiencies, exposure to toxic chemicals and a lack of exercise. Disease is almost never a matter of bad luck or bad genes.

Lie #6) Screening equals prevention

Western medicine doesn't believe in disease prevention. Rather, the industry believes in screening while calling it prevention. But screening isn't prevention by even the wildest stretch of the imagination. In fact, virtually all the popular screening methodologies actually promote diseases. Imaging dyes used in radiological scans can cause horrific side effects, and psychiatric "disorder" screening is little more than a thinly-disguised patient recruitment scheme disguised as medicine. Lie #7) Health insurance will keep you healthy

This is a favorite lie of those who recently pushed for the Big Pharma-sponsored health care reform that has swept across America. The lie supposes that merely having health insurance will provide some sort of magical protection against disease. But in reality, health insurance doesn't make you healthy! It is only YOU and your choices about foods, exposures to toxic chemicals, pursuit of exercise and time in nature that can make you healthy. Health insurance is, in effect, a wager that you will get sick. How does gambling on your sickness provide any protection whatsoever for your health? It doesn't. Personally, I'd rather bet on health than sickness, and the way to do that is to invest in nutritional supplements, organic produce, superfoods, physical fitness and non-toxic personal care products.

Lie #8) Hospitals are places of health and healing

If you want to stay healthy or get healthy, a hospital is the very last place you want to find yourself: They are unhappy, unhealthy places that are infested with antibiotic-resistant superbugs. Hospitals usually serve disease-promoting foods and lack health-enhancing sunlight, and potentially deadly mistakes with pharmaceuticals or surgical procedures now appear to be frighteningly common in U.S. hospitals. Certainly, emergency rooms in hospitals play an important role in urgent care for injuries and accidents -- and emergency room physicians do an amazing job saving lives -- but for people with chronic, degenerative disease, a hospital is a very dangerous place to be. Unless you really need immediate critical care, try to avoid hospitals.

Lie #9) Conventional medicine is "advanced" state-of-the-art medicine

Even though doctors and health authorities try to pass off western medicine as being "advanced" or "modern," the whole system is actually pathetically outdated and stuck in the germ theory of disease. Western medicine has yet to even acknowledge the role of nutrition in preventing disease -- something that has been scientifically documented for at least the last several decades. Western medicine fails to acknowledge mind-body medicine and hilariously believes the mind plays virtually no role in healing. Neither does western medicine acknowledge the bio energy field of living systems, nor that organ transplants carry memories, nor that living food is qualitatively different from dead food. Seriously: Conventional doctors still believe that dead food is exactly the same as living food! (And the USDA food pyramid still makes no distinction between the two...) "Modern" medicine isn't so modern, it turns out. It is, in fact, hopelessly outdated and desperately needs to upgrade its approach to health and wellness if it hopes to survive the next hundred years.

Lie #10) More research is needed to find "cures"

This lie is especially hilarious because western medicine does not believe in any "cure" for any disease. They aren't even looking for cures! This lie has been repeated since the 1960's, when cancer scientists claimed they were only a few years away from curing cancer. Today, four decades later, can you think of a single major disease that western medicine has cured? There aren't any. That's because drug companies make money from sick people, not cured people. A patient cured is a patient lost. It is far more profitable to keep patients sick and pretend to "manage" their disease through a lifetime of pharmaceuticals. So when drug companies and disease non-profits claim to be searching for a "cure," what they're really doing is taking your money to fund more drug research to patent more medications that don't actually cure anything. Remember this the next time you're asked to donate to some search for "the cure." The cures already exist in nutrition, herbal remedies and naturopathic medicine, but Big Pharma and the conventional medicine cartel isn't interested in real cures -- they only want to promote the idea of a cure while pumping patients full of drugs that don't cure anything.

Beyond the ten lies

When it comes to western health care, there are more than 10 lies, of course, but these big 10 lies are perhaps the most relevant to your own health decisions. By avoiding being suckered in by these lies, you can take charge of your own health and avoid the health care scam by staying healthy! Staying healthy isn't as difficult as you think, and it doesn't require health insurance or disease screening. It only requires making informed, intelligent decisions about what to eat, what to put on your skin and how to get more sunshine and physical exercise. Once you do these basic things, you'll find that you are no longer held victim by a western medicine health care system based on lies and outdated medical mythology. It's time for a revolution in medicine... A revolution that finally advances past the mental roadblock of a system of medical mythology stuck in the 1940's. Don't get me wrong, 1940's medicine was great in the 1940's. But this is no longer the 1940's, and the germ theory of disease is hopelessly outdated when it comes to the primary diseases that are striking the population today. Yet the profiteers of our dishonest, outmoded health care system are doing everything in their power to keep us all stranded in the past, a past based on treating the body like a chemical battleground and attacking every disease with a patented pharmaceutical. That whole approach to health care is so far outdated that it's hilarious it can still be pushed with a straight face. No wonder doctors only spend an average of two minutes with patients these days. That's the limit of how long they can hold their faces without breaking out in laughter at how stupid this whole "treat the symptoms and forget the causes" approach to health care really is. Even they know it! That's why most doctors actually eat superfoods and take vitamins themselves, even if they never dare suggest it to patients. True fact: It is illegal in every U.S. state for a doctor to recommend any vitamin, nutrient or food for the prevention or treatment of any disease. Doing so can cause a doctor to have his medical license permanently revoked. How crazy and outdated is that?

What's In That Health Care Bill?


I must here and now confess that I am less than well informed about the pending Health Reform legislation currently before Congress. The whole 'debate' has been confusing and mostly behind closed doors with deals being cut with who know who and for what reasons. Murky reports do come on a consistent basis in the media, but no clarity as to what is what and how much the whole thing will cost. It has been clear that the government mandated insurance will go in everybody's pocket whether you want what they are selling or not. That sounds like fascism to me. We wonder who has actually read the bill which stretches into the thousands of pages. Maybe the victory by the Republican candidate in Mass. will throw and monkey wrench into the Health Reform Bill juggernaut underway in the Congress. Below is the best short summary of some of the provision of the bill that I have seen. I can not verify the interpretations given, but at least the video is raising the right questions. We should and must demand answers.

Understanding the Relationship between Health and Obesity


The following article just confirms what we thought we already knew, that being fat kills. Obesity may rate as the number one health problem in the United States - especially among Blacks and other minority people. The dislike of fat people is often in evidence in jokes and demeaning caricatures in movies and on TV. The fat guy or the fat girl, may be funny and laughable, but the obese are rarely portrayed as heroic or even intelligent. They are usually presented as hapless losers, lacking in self esteem and confidence.

Although this article scientifically shows that the obese die of heart disease at almost twice the 'normal' rate, obesity is associated with poor health across the board. High blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disease, endocrine abnormalities, asthma, cancer, etc. For the obese and most of us are at least over-weight- this is old hat, but it is also misleading.

It is misleading because it engenders the idea that people are unhealthy because they are obese. Wrong! They are obese because they are unhealthy!

That's the reason why almost all diets and other weight loss gimmicks ultimately fail:

They do not make the obese person healthy! If you can get the person who is obese - obesity being but a sign of ill health- healthy, then the weight will take care of itself. Putting the cart before the horse makes matters much worse because if the only goal is to get the number on the scale to go down, then all kinds of metabolic tricks will be resorted to to accomplish that, but at a great price - an even greater deterioration of health. In other words, taking a person from what is already bad, to what is worse. So if weight is a problem that you are struggling with then know that your priority is to get healthy first, and the weight loss will follow.

Obesity more deadly than previously thought
Being overweight is more deadly than previous thought as scientists discover increasing bodyweight increases the risk of dying from heart disease almost two-fold.

A study of one million father and son pairs found that being overweight may increase the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease by 82 per cent.
The research carried out by the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and published online in the British Medical Journal attempted to iron out mistakes in previous studies and used the child's body mass index in association with the parent's cause of death.

This was to stop problems where certain diseases such as cancer that can cause weight loss, making it appear that thin people were at greater risk of dying.
It was found that this was not the case for lung cancer and being overweight, not underweight, made it more likely they would die from lung cancer. The results also showed that obesity posed a far greater risk for dying of heart disease than previously thought.

Health Benefits of Honey

Right after I posted the previous post about Bees, I got information about the Benefits of Honey, from Bro Kareem Ali, that bear witness to the truth of what the Holy Qur'an says about honey. Make sure the honey you use is raw and unprocessed. To my knowledge, the best medicinal grade honey is called 'Manuka' and may be available on-line. It is relatively expensive, but I use it in my clinical practice with great success.

Honey and Cinnamon Honey is the only food on the planet that will not spoil or rot. It will do what some call "turning to sugar". In reality honey is always honey. However, when left in a cool dark place for a long time it will do what I rather call "crystallizing". When this happens I loosen the lid, boil some water, and sit the honey container in the hot water, turn off the heat and let it liquefy. It is then As good as it ever was. Never boil honey or put it in a microwave. To do so will kill the enzymes in the honey. Bet the drug companies won't like this one getting around.~ Facts on Honey and Cinnamon: It is found that a mixture of honey and Cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban'(very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without any side effects for many kinds of diseases. Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the Right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients. Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada , in its issue dated 17 January, 1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured By honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists:


HEART DISEASES: Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. ARTHRITIS: Arthritis patients may take daily, morning and night, one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one Tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week, out of the 200 people so treated, practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain, and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.

I've known the benefit of honey since I was a little girl because my mother used to make sure that before we take anything in the morning we must first lick honey. In my teenager years, I made facial remedy for myself, and then I didn't even know my skin type. I used honey with banana, avocado pear, egg yolk.
