Is Cancer an Infection?


Are infections the cause of cancer? Well, in many cases this is a proven fact. Usually the infectious agent is a virus that takes over the genetic machinery of a cell and turns it cancerous. Some researchers down through many years have contended that bacteria may also be involved. Usually those claims have been dismissed without much serious consideration.


Now research out of China shows a relationship between metastatic breast cancer (pictured above) and a bacteria. Antibiotics may be effective in such a case, or more natural immune enhancing therapies.

Abstract
Chronic bacterial infection increased the risk of many solid malignancies and the underlying mechanism is usually ascribed to bacterial-caused inflammation. However, the direct interaction of infectious bacteria with cancer cells has been largely overlooked. We identified that highly metastatic breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells expressed high level of Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) in contrast to poorly metastatic breast cancer cells and homogenous untransformed breast cells. TLR2 in MDA-MB-231 cells were actively triggered by peptidoglycan (PGN) from infectious bacterium Staphylococcus aureus (PGN-SA), resulting in the promoted invasiveness and adhesiveness of the cancer cells in vitro. PGN-SA induced phosphorylation of TAK1 and IkappaB in the TLR2-NF-kappaB pathway of the cancer cells and stimulated IL-6 and TGF-beta secretion in MDA-MB-231 cells. All these effects were abrogated by TLR2 blockade. Further investigation showed that the NF-kappaB, STAT3 and Smad3 activities were augmented sequentially in MDA-MB-231 cells after PGN-SA stimulation. Phosphorylation of NF-kappaBp65 was initially increased and then followed by phosphorylation of STAT3 and Smad3 in the delayed 4 or 6 hours. NF-kappaB inhibition attenuated STAT3 and Smad3 activities whereas PGN-SA-stimulated cell culture supernatants reversed these inhibitory effects. Our study indicated that TLR2 activation by infectious bacterial PGN played an important role in breast cancer cell invasiveness and illustrated a new link between infectious bacteria and the cancer cells, suggesting the importance of antibiotic therapy to treat cancer with bacterial infection.

Abstract
In four cases of carcinoma of the breast, variably acid-fast coccoid forms were found in sections from their metastases to the skin and in one of these cases in sections of the primary carcinoma. In this one case, similar-appearing corcoid forms were observed within the sections of the primary malignancy. In this same case, Staphylococcus epidermidis was cultured and studied at once and as it aged for development of forms comparable to those found in the microscopic sections of the neoplastic process. The implications of the findings for etiology of carcinoma of the breast are discussed.

Soda Causes Cancer of the Pancreas


It was not so long ago that I really thought it was OK to drink sodas. It just seemed so innocent - some bubbly water with flavor and sugar added. But was I ever wrong! But now we have a whole generation coming up on soft drinks which provide more than half of the calories consumed per day among teenagers AND the elderly! This adds up to a whopping 165lbs of sugar a year - as compared to only 4lbs of sugar for the average person 100 years ago. Yes, that actually is 40 times more! So that's how it adds up to more obesity, mineral deficiencies, diabetes, hypertension, liver disease, and how this new study show it adds up to one of the worst diseases known to medical science - pancreatic cancer. Only 1 out of 10 will survive a whole year after diagnosis, so this is one you don't want. Soda doubles the risk.

Soft drinks can almost double the risk of pancreatic cancer

Here's another reason to avoid soft drinks: It can significantly increase your risk of pancreatic cancer
The damage to your teeth by consuming sugar and soft drinks may seem trivial now that research has shown they may also increase the risk of pancreatic cancer, writes Roger Dobson.
A new study at Georgetown University in the US looked at sugar-sweetened carbonated beverages or soft drinks and the risk of pancreatic cancer in 60,000 men and women in Singapore over a 14-year period.
It found that those who drink more than two soft drinks a week almost double the risk of developing the disease.
And a second study over 16 years by the University of East Anglia, monitoring 25,000 adults in the UK, shows that those who had the most sucrose (table or white sugar) in their diet were twice as likely to get the disease as those who had the least.
Some 7,500 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer each year in the UK. It is difficult to detect and treat, and there are few early symptoms. Little is known about the exact causes, and it can develop for no obvious reason.
But new research is shedding light on possible risk factors.
Another extensive study of 160,000 people at the University of Hawaii looked at diet and pancreatic-cancer risk, and showed that higher intakes of fructose (a sugar that occurs naturally in fruits, vegetables and honey) and sucrose led to a 35 per cent higher risk of disease.
During the research at the University of East Anglia, participants kept daily food diaries and sucrose intake was calculated for each person.
The researchers have been looking for any dietary differences between those who went on to develop pancreatic cancer and those who did not.
Results show that those who consumed the most sucrose were twice as likely to develop the cancer, although why is not clear.
A key role of the pancreas is to produce insulin, which helps keep sugar levels in the blood at a stable level. One theory is that excess sucrose intake could trigger pancreatic cancer through increased insulin production.
Excess insulin may result in an increase in growth factors and other compounds that may stimulate growth of cancer cells.

Stop Cancer With Fruits and Vegetables
Cancers can begin to develop anywhere from 10 to 40 years before they are diagnosed. We know they can be generated by many things, such as chemicals (carcinogens) and radiation exposure, but studies have found that one central event is most closely associated with cancer development — chronic inflammation. Certain vegetables contain extremely high levels of cancer-preventing substances, while others have very few. Studies have shown that the cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, brussels sprouts, kale, and cauliflower, provide superior cancer-preventing power.
A number of other vegetables are big hitters, as well. These include turnip greens, mustard greens, collard greens, cabbage, carrots, and tomatoes.
Of the fruits, the most important are cranberries, currants, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and apples (especially the McIntosh variety).
I omitted grapes, even though they contain a number of powerful cancer-preventing substances, because many are high in fluoride, due to an insecticide (cryolite) that is sprayed on crops. Fluoride has been shown to increase cancer growth and bone cancer risk by 600 percent in young men.
Many compounds found in fruits and vegetables can neutralize the cancer-causing effects of pesticides and herbicides. They include quercetin, a flavonoid found in cranberries, apples, onions, and teas, and glucosinolate, which is found in brussels sprouts, kale, and broccoli.
These food products neutralize the cancerous effects of pesticides and herbicides by stimulating the body’s detoxification systems.

Vitamin D Activates Immune System


Many of you who follow this blog remember that I recommended strongly that you and your family take Vitamin D (Cataplex D) as a part of our anti-swine flu protocol. Continuing research is showing why Vitamin D helps with the flu and everything else that requires immunity - infection, cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis and all the so-called auto-immune disorders. Soda Drinking Linked to Six Major Diseases


The only safe soda is the one not consumed - that goes for fruit juice drinks as well. Soda Causes 130,000 Cases of Diabetes




NaturalNews) For years, advocates of natural health have been hammering away at the message that soda causes diabetes and obesity. The soda industry, meanwhile, has remained in denial mode, mirroring the ridiculous position of the tobacco industry that "nicotine is not addictive." Soda doesn't cause diabetes, the industry claims, and it's perfectly safe to consume in essentially unlimited quantities.The Corn Refiners Association has joined the denial with its own spin campaign that seeks to convince people High-Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is totally natural and completely harmless. HFCS is, of course, the primary sweetener used in sodas and soft drinks.Now comes new research presented at the American Heart Association's Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology and Prevention annual conference in San Francisco. This new research reveals that over the last decade, soda consumption has conservatively caused:


• 130,000 new cases of diabetes


• 14,000 new cases of heart disease


• 50,000 more "life years" with heart disease over the last decade


"The finding suggests that any kind of policy that reduces consumption might have a dramatic health benefit," said senior study author Dr. Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo (associate professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco).


The American Beverage Association, meanwhile, says this study hasn't been published in a peer-reviewed medical journal yet and therefore it doesn't count. Soda consumption doesn't cause diabetes or heart disease, they claim, because "...both heart disease and diabetes are complex conditions with no single cause and no single solution."It's silly logic, of course: Diabetes obviously has a cause. It's not some spontaneous disease that appears out of nowhere. And when you go looking for the cause, you obviously have to look at dietary factors since diabetes is a disease related to the consumption and metabolism of dietary sugars. Once you do that, sodas immediately raise a red flag because they're liquid sugar in a highly-concentrated form that does not exist naturally in nature.HFCS doesn't grow on trees, in other words.


Nature provides sugars locked into insoluble fibers that slow digestion and lower the effective glycemic index of sugars that are consumed. In nature, sugars are always combined with minerals, too, and many of those minerals help prevent diabetes and heart disease. But High-Fructose Corn Syrup is stripped of virtually all those minerals. It contains no fiber and no healing phytonutrients that you might encounter in plants. As a result, HFCS -- sometimes dubbed "liquid Satan" -- might be called a dietary poison that causes disease while contributing to nutritional deficiencies that accelerate disease.
Bone loss


Interestingly, this new study did not look at loss of bone density, which is another side effect of drinking soda. Due to the extremely high acidity of the HFCS sweetener combined with the phosphoric acid used in sodas, people who drink sodas often lose bone minerals and end up being diagnosed with osteoporosis (even at a relatively young age).


Other people end up with kidney stones due to all these minerals passing through the kidneys and contributing to the built up of mineral deposits there. Long-term soda consumers may even suffer from pancreatic cancer due to the extreme stress placed on the pancreas following the consumption of liquid sugars.


In all, soda consumption is linked to at least six serious diseases:


#1) Diabetes


#2) Obesity


#3) Heart disease


#4) Cancer


#5) Osteoporosis


#6) Kidney stones


That's why taxing sodas is more than merely a way to raise money through soda sales; it's also a way to dramatically reduce the cost of treating these diseases. It's no surprise that several U.S. states are now starting to seriously consider slapping new taxes on sodas and other "junk" beverages.That's not the way I would prefer to see the situation handled, actually.


The better option, in my view, would be to ban all soda advertising by effectively stripping Free Speech rights from corporations. Such rights belong only to individuals, not multi-billion-dollar corporations. Corporations whose products physically harm the health of the population at large should not be allowed to openly advertise and promote those products to the public. They can still sell them, they just can't advertise them.

The Rhythm of Healing

First of all, the news reported below is very good news and offers fresh hope to cancer victims. If the preliminary findings hold then the treatment of cancer may make a major advance. It is based on 'timing'. As they say: "Timing is Everything." It turns out that the immune system operates on a cycle of between 12 and 14 days. It reminds me of the biorhythm cycles that have consistently proven themselves to be of great predictive value in my medical practice. There are three main biorhythm cycles:
The 21 day physical cycle
The 28 day emotional cycle, and
The 31 day intellectual cycle.
Without hitting the details, every 14 days there is a 'crisis day' in the emotional cycle - that's when your emotions are unstable and can lead to problems and mistakes of an emotional nature. CANCER 'CODE' IS CRACKED in halting the spread of advanced cancer

By giving low-dose treatment at exactly the right time, researchers believe they have, against the odds, succeeded in halting the spread of advanced cancer.

Professor Michael Quinn has led the trial in patients with advanced ovarian cancer and suggests it could signal the most exciting development since the introduction of chemotherapy in the Fifties.

While he points out that it is still a theory, he said: “This is astonishing and could infl uence the treatment of all solid tumours in the future. We hope it will revolutionise the treatment of cancer.” Professor Quinn and his team reviewed 63 papers involving more than 1,200 patients since 2000.

They discovered that sufferers had about a 1-in-12 chance of responding to chemotherapy. ­During further studies they found the body has a fortnightly immune cycle during which it “switches on and off”.

When the immune system turns off, it releases “inhibitory cells” which prevent it fighting disease, including cancer.

Professor Quinn and his team in Melbourne, Australia, target chemotherapy when the immune system is not working to knock out “inhibitory cells”, dramatically improving patients’ chances of recovery.

The treatment is in pill form and patients avoid almost all the debilitating chemotherapy side effects.

Cell Phone Radiation


Right now there are almost as many cell phones in use on the planet as there are people. Even the poorest among us somehow can afford to have a cell phone. It's similar to everybody being able to get an unbelievable deal on a mortgage a few years back. We later found out that that was a designed scam to bankrupt millions. Vaccines are also offered free or nearly free. Hmmm... makes you wonder if there is something sinister about cell phones and the cell phone towers - 250,000 of them- that cover the country. Why do cell phones operate at the same frequency as your brain waves? Is that dangerous? Do cell phones cause brain cancers? Could cell phones be used for mind control purposes? It would be better if we had real solid answers to these questions.

Which Smart Phones Emit the Most Radiation?

EWG notes that the Motorola Brute i680, Samsung Mythic, and Pantech Impact are phones with some of the lowest emissions — and advises cell phone users to stick to these lower-emissions phones until we learn more about the long-term health effects of cell phone radiation.

Heavy users may face a higher risk of developing brain tumours later in life
A £20million, decade-long investigation overseen by the World Health Organisation (WHO) will publish evidence that heavy users face a higher risk of developing brain tumours later in life, The Daily Telegraph can disclose.
The conclusion, while not definitive, will undermine assurances from the government that the devices are safe and is expected to put ministers under pressure to issue stronger guidance.

A preliminary breakdown of the results found a “significantly increased risk” of some brain tumours “related to use of mobile phones for a period of 10 years or more” in some studies.
The head of the Interphone investigation said that the report would include a “public health message”.
The Interphone inquiry has been investigating whether exposure to mobile phones is linked to three types of brain tumour and a salivary gland tumour.
Its head, Dr Elisabeth Cardis, backed new warnings.
“In the absence of definitive results and in the light of a number of studies which, though limited, suggest a possible effect of radiofrequency radiation, precautions are important,” she said.
“I am therefore globally in agreement with the idea of restricting the use by children, though I would not go as far as banning mobile phones as they can be a very important tool, not only in emergencies, but also maintaining contact between children and their parents and thus playing a reassurance role.
“Means to reduce our exposure (use of hands-free kits and moderating our use of phones) are also interesting.”
The project conducted studies in 13 countries, interviewing tumour sufferers and people in good health to see whether their mobile phone use differed. It questioned about 12,800 people between 2000 and 2004.
Previous research into the health effects of mobile phones, in the short time they have been in use, has proved inconclusive. However, a breakdown of the latest findings, seen by The Daily Telegraph, shows that six of eight Interphone studies found some rise in the risk of glioma (the most common brain tumour), with one finding a 39 per cent increase.
Two of seven studies into acoustic neurinoma (a benign tumour of a nerve between the ear and brain) reported a higher risk after using mobiles for 10 years. A Swedish report said it was 3.9 times higher.
A summary said a definitive link could not be proved because of difficulties with subjects’ memories.
An Israeli study found heavy users were about 50 per cent more likely to suffer tumours of the parotid salivary gland.
