The worst case scenario in the Gulf may not be a continuing oil spill.
There is a huge methane gas bubble under the sea floor that is about to explode creating a literal super-sonic methane and rock volcanic tsunami in the Gulf of Mexico. Millions would die and the country would cease to exist.
The leak can not be stopped by any known technology except maybe a nuclear detonation... but that would ignite the methane, wouldn't it?
