The Great American Die-Off

If the following article is true, then we are in the midst of a major die-off of the human population on the planet, starting with the United States. According to the article, a Russian report finds that 2 million Americans may have already died due to a mysterious lung disease caused by a mutant "crossover plant viral disease" linked to genetically modified corn and other foods. Even the possibility of this being true is cause for concern and demands further research into the true nature and consequences of the GMO "foods" promoted by Monsanto and their toy, the FDA. On the surface, on first hearing, this may sound impossible, but can we be sure? How can we find out for certain whether or not this is true? If "GMO" was required to be on labels, that would help. At least we would have a free choice to indulge in the GMO gamble or not. Read and decide for yourself what you think is best for you and your family. If we grew our own, would we have these worries?
When is enough enough?

Enjoy. Learn. Think. Share.

[The]most chilling report circulating in the Kremlin today prepared by the Russian Academy of Medical and Technical Science for Prime Minister Putin states that a “mysterious die-off” in the United States has claimed over 2,000,000 lives since 2008 and is “more than likely” linked to a “crossover” plant disease linked to genetically modified grains and foods.
According to these reports this mysterious, and as yet unidentified, lung disease responsible for this mass die-off began during the spring of 2008 in the US agricultural State of Iowa where (very ironically)
at least 36 people attending a Lung Association event at the Governors mansion were stricken.
Important to note about Iowa is that it is one of the
largest corn producing regions in the World harvesting over 2 billon bushels of this valuable grain farmed on nearly 32 million acres of its farmland, over 99% of which are genetically modified varieties made by the US agricultural giant Monsanto and idententifeid by their trade names of Mon 863, insecticide-producing Mon 810, and Roundup® herbicide-absorbing NK 603.
Not reported to the American people about these genetically modified corn varieties made by Monsanto was the
study released by the International Journal of Biological Sciences warning that they were linked to organ damage. Monsanto quickly responded to this study, stating that the research was “based on faulty analytical methods and reasoning and do not call into question the safety findings for these products.”
Russian scientists in these reports, however, call Monsanto’s claim of their genetically modified Mon 863 corn as being safe for human or animal consumption “totally without validation”, a finding supported by the French biomolecular engineering commission, the Commission du GĂ©nie BiomolĂ©culaire (CGB) who stated in their report, “with the present data it cannot be concluded that GM corn MON 863 is a safe product.
Further supporting the findings of Russian scientists was
Greenpeace International, who in their report titled “MON 863: A chronicle of systematic deception” warned that the campaign to unearth and evaluate data about this most dangerous of genetically modified grains demonstrates, beyond all doubt, that MON863 is unfit for consumption.
Most unfortunately for the American people though, all of these warnings have been ignored by their government masters who have allowed the mass planting of these genetically modified crops to such an extent that in the United States today fully
80% of their corn and 93% of their soybeans are of these dangerous varieties and leading one Russian scientist in these reports to warn that our World is now on the verge of experiencing an ecological disaster of “Biblical proportions”.
And according to these reports this ecological disaster is well underway in the United States and supported by American death statistics showing that of the nearly
2.5 million deaths reported by them each year the number of “sudden deaths” has increased to 40% equaling out to over 2 million “mysterious and unexplained” deaths from early 2008 to March, 2010.
Now of these “mysterious and unexplained” American deaths, these reports continue, nearly all of them are lung related and being erroneously documented as being caused by influenza and pneumonia type diseases so as not to panic these peoples, but have, instead, been caused by as an yet unidentified plant virus that has successfully jumped the species barrier to human beings.
Supporting Russian scientists in these conclusions is new research being conducted by the Didier Raoult of the University of the Mediterranean in Marseilles, France, where for the
first time in human history a plant virus has been found to cause problems in people.
Russian scientists further claim in these reports that the United States mass vaccination of their population this past year for the supposed H1N1 Swine Flu epidemic was instead a “very clumsy attempt” to stop the spreading of this mysterious lung disease by injecting into these peoples a DNA “fix” to this genetically modified corn, and which by all the evidence available, they state, appears to have failed.
For those wondering how the United States government could ever allow such a monstrous outrage to be committed on their citizens one only need know that over the past 10 years Monsanto has paid over $500 million in bribing those American officials responsible for food safety while at the same time has joined US corporate giants
General Electric and Exxon Mobil in not paying any taxes despite the billions in profits they have reaped.
And for those Americans believing that President Obama will protect them from these outrages they couldn’t be more mistaken, and as we can read as reported by the Huffington Post News Service in their article titled “
You’re Appointing Who? Please Obama, Say It’s Not So!” and which, in part, says:
“The person who may be responsible for more food-related illness and death than anyone in history has just been made the US food safety czar. This is no joke.
Here’s the back story.
When FDA scientists were asked to weigh in on what was to become the most radical and potentially dangerous change in our food supply — the introduction of genetically modified (GM) foods — secret documents now reveal that the experts were very concerned. Memo after memo described toxins, new diseases, nutritional deficiencies, and hard-to-detect allergens. They were adamant that the technology carried “serious health hazards,” and required careful, long-term research, including human studies, before any genetically modified organisms (GMOs) could be safely released into the food supply.
But the biotech industry had rigged the game so that neither science nor scientists would stand in their way. They had placed their own man in charge of FDA policy and he wasn’t going to be swayed by feeble arguments related to food safety. No, he was going to do what corporations had done for decades to get past these types of pesky concerns. He was going to lie.”
Even worse for these American people are those believing they will be able to change their government in the upcoming National elections to be held in the United States this coming November, but which new reports are showing that Obama is also preparing for with a special military unit called the “Consequence Management Response Force” said ready to deploy during these elections at his command from his White House fortress the Washington Post writes has now become more like “Soviet-era Moscow” then the house of the people it used to be should these Americans begin to rise up against the growing corporate-run police state surrounding them.
New reports from America are also warning that Obama’s growing police state government is further moving against its own citizens by ordering their Internet giants to turn over all emails written by every citizen in their country, an insidious move Yahoo, for one,
has vowed to fight.
To the final outcome of all of these events it is not in our knowing, other than to note that in the same week that one of Obama’s Federal Courts has
outlawed all Americans from celebrating their National Prayer Day, and Obama has vowed to rid the United States of all of its nuclear weapons, President Putin, on the other hand, stated that Russia’s internal and external security depends upon two things – “its traditional religions and its nuclear forces”…and leaving no doubt whatsoever that our World has, indeed, turned upside down as the US descends into tyranny and Russia moves toward freedom.

Thank you for this information. I believe every word of it.
a few years back Monsanto was involved and tried to hide the fact that it was injecting hormones into cows to make them produce more milk. Two investigators of their own were assigned to do a “goodwill” story on it. However, they found out that the hormones produced cancer and that Monsanto knew about it and did not inform the public.
The investigators would not write the report they were told to by Monsanto and both were fired even after Monsanto made them change their story 80, yes eighty times and then fired them anyway. The reporters then brought the story to the public.
There also was controversey and outcry by Americans about the GMO’s. The result was codex, alimentarius. Nothing produced by the US can even be trusted anymore.
I too, shutter to think about our new food czar.
Americans are waking up and fighting back on all levels.

The American people are being turned into slaves and they don’t realize how close they are to loosing all of their freedoms, because of an illegal election. They are about to wake up to find that they are going to live under a dictator not a president. America as we knew it is dead. We are the laughing stock of the rest of the world now.

Monsanto has a primary goal of controlling the world food supply. And since they cannot control organic agriculture, they chose to usurp it with GMO crops, whose pollen affects every other crop around you. More than likely, monsanto is responsible for the vast die-off of honeybees, due to the pesticides they push on their ‘customers’. All them trace elements in the pollen are carried back to the hive where it accumulates and kills the bees. There are plenty of monsanto goons that need some good ol’ American Country Justice..

I’m not sure I’ve ever heard such a tall tail – OK, Paul Bunyon. Where can I read this supposed report?
Where is there any evidence of any “mysterious die-off”? 2 million people? The fact that some people actually believe this lunacy is troubling at best ….

Eventually genetically modified food will be identified as the number one killer of Americans.
It only took rats a few months to be affected and die miserably from GMO corn. Are we next?… and how effective will staying off GMO products be, even if you try?
How can anyone be sure 100% that what you eat, even organic, hasn’t been contaminated?

The Science of Food Addiction

Here is a very good article to help us understand how refined, processed and fast food products - junk food- is designed with you in mind...
er, with your mind in mind, I should say.
This lets us know that we should not be buying our food from non-human corporations who conspire against human beings for the sake of a profit.
Food should be a strictly human affair. No corporations allowed.
Otherwise things get out of hand like they have gotten out of hand.
These 'foods' are engineered to addict you, to change the wiring in your brain so you are no more in control of yourself than a crack addict.
You can't blame the corporations - they're not human!
They have been set up to limit the liability of the humans involved- You need that kind of protection when you intend to engage in criminal activity.
Good Solution: Buy your food from other humans like yourself - farmers, fisherman, gardeners - people like yourself, who live and breathe. Not from faceless 'artificial persons' which is the legal definition of a corporation. Best Solution: Grow your own food, be like God and plant a garden.

Obesity: The killer combination of salt, fat and sugar

Our favourite foods are making us fat, yet we can't resist, because eating them is changing our minds as well as bodies

burger

'You get hungry, you want something, you end up picking up a hamburger.' Photograph: Johanna Parkin

For years I wondered why I was fat. I lost weight, gained it back, and lost it again – over and over and over. I owned suits in every size. As a former commissioner of the FDA (the US Food and Drug Administration), surely I should have the answer to my problems. Yet food held remarkable sway over my behaviour.

The latest science seemed to suggest being overweight was my destiny. I was fat because my body's "thermostat" was set high. If I lost weight, my body would try to get it back, slowing down my metabolism till I returned to my predetermined set point.

But this theory didn't explain why so many people, in the US and UK in particular, were getting significantly fatter. For thousands of years, human body weight had stayed remarkably stable. Millions of calories passed through our bodies, yet with rare exceptions our weight neither rose nor fell. A perfect biological system seemed to be at work. Then, in the 80s, something changed.

Three decades ago, fewer than one Briton in 10 was obese. One in four is today. It is projected that by 2050, Britain could be a "mainly obese society". Similar, and even more pronounced, changes were taking place in the US, where researchers found that not only were Americans entering their adult years at a significantly higher weight but, while on average everyone was getting heavier, the heaviest people were gaining disproportionately more weight than others. The spread between those at the upper end of the weight curve and those at the lower end was widening. Overweight people were becoming more overweight.

What had happened to add so many millions of pounds to so many millions of people? Certainly food had become more readily available, with larger portion sizes, more chain restaurants and a culture that promotes out-of-home eating. But having food available doesn't mean we have to eat it. What has been driving us to overeat?

It is certainly not a want born of fear of food shortages. Nor is it a want rooted in hunger or the love of exceptional food. We know, too, that overeating is not the sole province of those who are overweight. Even people who remain slim often feel embattled by their drive for food. It takes serious restraint to resist an almost overpowering urge to eat. Yet many, including doctors and healthcare professionals, still think that weight gainers merely lack willpower, or perhaps self-esteem. Few have recognised the distinctive pattern of overeating that has become widespread in the population. No one has seen loss of control as its most defining characteristic.

"Higher sugar, fat and salt make you want to eat more." I had read this in scientific literature, and heard it in conversations with neuroscientists and psychologists. But here was a leading food designer, a Henry Ford of mass-produced food, revealing how his industry operates. To protect his business, he did not want to be identified, but he was remarkably candid, explaining how the food industry creates dishes to hit what he called the "three points of the compass".

Sugar, fat and salt make a food compelling. They stimulate neurons, cells that trigger the brain's reward system and release dopamine, a chemical that motivates our behaviour and makes us want to eat more. Many of us have what's called a "bliss point", at which we get the greatest pleasure from sugar, fat or salt. Combined in the right way, they make a product indulgent, high in "hedonic value".

During the past two decades, there has been an explosion in our ability to access and afford what scientists call highly "palatable" foods. By palatability, they don't just mean it tastes good: they are referring primarily to its capacity to stimulate the appetite. Restaurants sit at the epicentre of this explosion, along with an ever-expanding range of dishes that hit these three compass points. Sugar, fat and salt are either loaded into a core ingredient (such as meat, vegetables, potato or bread), layered on top of it, or both. Deep-fried tortilla chips are an example of loading – the fat is contained in the chip itself. When it is smothered in cheese, sour cream and sauce, that's layering.

It is not just that fast food chains serve food with more fat, sugar and salt, or that intensive processing virtually eliminates our need to chew before swallowing, or that snacks are now available at any time. It is the combination of all that, and more.

Take Kentucky Fried Chicken. My source called it "a premier example" of putting more fat on our plate. KFC's approach to battering its food results in "an optimised fat pick-up system". With its flour, salt, MSG, maltodextrin, sugar, corn syrup and spice, the fried coating imparts flavour that touches on all three points of the compass while giving the consumer the perception of a bargain – a big plate of food at a good price.

Initially, KFC meals were built around a whole chicken, with a pick-up surface that contained "an enormous amount of breading, crispiness and brownness on the surface. That makes the chicken look like more and gives it this wonderful oily flavour." Over time, the company began to realise there was less meat in a chicken nugget compared with a whole chicken, and a greater percentage of fried batter. But the real breakthrough was popcorn chicken. "The smaller the piece of meat, the greater the percentage of fat pick-up," said the food designer. "Now, we have lots of pieces of a cheaper part of the chicken." The product has been "optimised on every dimension", with the fat, sugar and salt combining with the perception of good value virtually to guarantee consumer appeal.

He walked me through some offerings at other popular food chains. Burger King's Whopper touched on the three points of the compass – then was altered for further effect. In its first, stripped-down form, the burger was explosively rich in fat, sugar and salt. Then the chain began adding more beef, extra cheese or a layer of bacon. McDonald's broke new ground in another way – by making food available on a whim. "The great growth has been the snacking occasion. You get hungry, you want something, your mind pushes off the reality of what you ought to eat, and you end up picking up a hamburger and a giant soda or french fries."

Next they introduced a high-fat, high-salt morning meal. "They took what they learned from the core lunch and dinner menu, and applied it to breakfast. The sausage McMuffin and the egg McMuffin are stand-ins for the hamburger. In effect, you are eating a morning hamburger."

This kind of food disappears down our throats so quickly after the first bite that it readily overrides the body's signals that should tell us, "I'm full." The food designer offered coleslaw as an example. When its ingredients are chopped roughly, it requires time and energy to chew. But when cabbage and carrots are softened in a high-fat dressing, coleslaw ceases to be "something with a lot of innate ability to satisfy".

This isn't to say that the food industry wants us to stop chewing altogether. It knows we want to eat a doughnut, not drink it. "The key is to create foods with just enough chew – but not too much. When you're eating these things, you've had 500, 600, 800, 900 calories before you know it." Foods that slip down don't leave us with a sense of being well fed. In making food disappear so swiftly, fat and sugar only leave us wanting more.

According to food consultant Gail Vance Civille, of management consultants Sensory Spectrum, fat is crucial to this process of lubrication, ensuring that a product melts in the mouth. In the past, she says, Americans typically chewed food up to 25 times before it was swallowed; now the average American chews 10 times. "If I have fat in there, I just chew it up and whoosh! Away it goes," she says. "You have a 'quick getaway', a quick melt."

The Snickers bar, Civille says, is "extraordinarily well engineered". Unlike many products whose nuts become annoyingly lodged between your teeth, the genius of Snickers is that as we chew, the sugar dissolves, the fat melts and the caramel picks up the peanut pieces, so the entire candy is carried out of the mouth at the same time. "You're not getting a build-up of stuff in your mouth."

Kettle chips are another success story. Made of sugar-rich russet potatoes, they have a slightly bitter background note and brown irregularly, which gives them a complex flavour. High levels of fat generate easy mouth-melt, and surface variations add a level of interest beyond that found in mass-produced chips. Heightened complexity is the key to modern food design.

Not so many decades ago, a single flavour of ice-cream was a special treat. Our options ran to vanilla, chocolate and strawberry – and when we could buy all three in a single carton, we saw that as a great innovation. Now ice-cream has countless flavours and varieties; it comes mixed with M&M's or topped with caramel sauce.

When layers of complexity are built into food, the effect becomes more powerful. Sweetness alone does not account for the full impact of a fizzy drink – its temperature and tingle, resulting from the stimulation of the trigeminal nerve by carbonation and acid, are essential contributors as well.

"The complexity of the stimulus increases its association to a reward," says Gaetano Di Chiara, an expert in neuroscience and pharmacology at the University of Cagliari in Italy. Elements of that complexity include tastes that are familiar and well liked, especially if not always readily available, and the learning associated with having had a pleasurable experience with the same food in the past.

Take a bowl of M&M's. If I've eaten them in the past, I'm stimulated by the sight of them, because I know they'll be rewarding. I eat one, and experience that reward. The visual cue gains power and stimulates the urge we call "wanting". The more potent and complex foods become, the greater the rewards they may offer. The excitement in the brain increases our desire for further stimulation.

In theory there's a limit to how much stimulation rewarding foods can generate. We are supposed to habituate – to neuroadapt. When Di Chiara gave animals a cheesy snack called Fonzies, the levels of dopamine in their brains increased. Over time, habituation set in, dopamine levels fell and the food lost its capacity to activate their behaviour.

But if the stimulus is powerful enough, novel enough or administered intermittently enough, the brain may not curb its dopamine response. Desire remains high. We see this with cocaine use, which does not result in habituation. Hyperpalatable foods alter the landscape of the brain in much the same way.

I asked Di Chiara to study what happens after an animal is repeatedly exposed to a high-sugar, high-fat chocolate drink. When he'd completed his experiment, he sent me an email with "Important results!!!!" in the subject line. He had shown that dopamine response did not diminish over time with the chocolate drink. There was no habituation.

Novelty also impedes habituation, and intermittency is another driver. Give an animal enough sugar-laden food, withdraw it for the right amount of time, then provide it again in sufficient quantities, and dopamine levels may not diminish.

There's still a lot we don't know about the relationship between the dopamine-driven motivational system and our behaviour in the presence of rewarding foods. But we do know that foods high in sugar, fat and salt are altering the biological circuitry of our brains. We have scientific techniques that demonstrate how these foods – and the cues associated with them – change the connections between the neural circuits and their response patterns.

Rewarding foods are rewiring our brains. As they do, we become more sensitive to the cues that lead us to anticipate the reward. In that circularity lies a trap: we can no longer control our responses to highly palatable foods because our brains have been changed by the foods we eat.

I wanted to know how much the industry understood about how the food we eat affects us; about what I have termed "conditioned hypereating" – "conditioned" because it becomes an automatic response to widely available food, "hyper" because the eating is excessive and hard to control. I turned to Joseph Stiglitz, a Nobel laureate in economics.

"Does the industry know that what it feeds us gets us to eat more?" I asked.

"The industry has jacked up what works for it," Stiglitz said. "The learning is evolutionary." Practical experience has been its guide – it does not need lab rats when it can try out its ideas on humans. Its decision-makers do not have to analyse human brain circuitry to discover what sells.

A venture capitalist who knows the business intimately cited Starbucks as a company that has recognised and responded brilliantly to a cultural need. The caffeine and sugar in the coffee, with their energising effects, are certainly part of the equation, but the chain also offers something much more primal. "It's about warm milk and a bottle," he says. "One of my colleagues said, 'If I could put a nipple on it, I'd be a multimillionaire'."

But it was thinking creatively about how to attract more consumers that led Starbucks to the Frappuccino, the venture capitalist told me. Although its stores were crowded early in the day, by afternoon "they were so empty you could roll a bowling ball through them". The creation of a rich, sweet and comforting milkshake-like concoction utterly transformed the business. A Starbucks Strawberries & Crème Frappuccino comes with whipped cream and 18 teaspoons of sugar: all in all, this "drink" contains more calories than a personal-size pepperoni pizza, and more sweetness than six scoops of ice-cream. By encouraging us to consider any occasion for food an opportunity for pleasure and reward, the industry invites us to indulge a lot more often.

Starbucks learned a basic lesson: make enticing food easily and constantly available, keep it novel, and people will keep coming back for more. With food available in almost any setting, "the number of cues, the number of opportunities" to eat have increased, while the barriers to consumption have fallen, says David Mela, senior scientist of weight management at the Unilever Health Institute. "The environmental stimulus has changed."

Of course, when food is offered to us, we're not obliged to eat it. When it's on the menu, we don't have to order it. But this takes more than willpower. As an individual, you can practise eating the food you want in a controlled way. As a society, we can identify the forces that drive overeating and find ways to diminish their power. That's what happened with the tobacco industry: attitudes to smoking shifted. Similar changes could be brought about in our attitudes to food – by making it mandatory for restaurants to list calorie counts on their menus; by clear labelling on food products; by monitoring food marketing. But until then few of us are immune to the ubiquitous presence of food, the incessant marketing and the cultural assumption that it's acceptable to eat anywhere, at any time.

Call it the "taco chip challenge" – the challenge of controlled eating in the face of constant food availability. "Forty years ago, you might face the social equivalent of that taco chip challenge once a month. Now you face it every single day," Mela said. "Every single day and every single place you go, those foods are there, those foods are cheap, those foods are readily available for you to engage in. There is constant, constant opportunity."

How to take back control

Plan when and what you will eat There should be no room for deviation; the idea is to inhibit mindless eating and eliminate your mental tug-of-war. Once you've set new patterns, you can become more flexible.

Practise portion control Eat half your usual meal; see how you feel one and two hours later. A just-right meal will keep away hunger for four hours.

List the foods and situations you can't control Cut out those foods; limit exposure to those situations. If offered something you overeat, push it away.

Talk down your urges Learn responses to involuntary thoughts: eating that will only satisfy me temporarily; eating this will make me feel trapped; I'll be happier and weigh less if I don't eat this.

Rehearse making the right choices Before entering a restaurant, imagine chosing a dinner that's part of your eating plan. Think of this as a game against a powerful opponent. You won't win every encounter, but with practice you can get a lot better.

He Who Controls Your Food Controls You!

Ever since humans have been on this planet, we have been engaged in a struggle to get enough good food to eat in order to live, reproduce and build our civilizations. Primitive man knew when he got up in the morning that he had to find food in order to avoid starvation. So food finding was a serious endeavor that was not played with. It formed the basis of how society was organized and governed.
Is it any different today?
Whether you are aware of it or not, you actually have the same struggle on your hands today. Where are you going to find some real food today, and tomorrow and forever? If you fail in this endeavor you and your family will die.
The would-be-rulers of the New World Order know that they can never have the Godlike absolute power they desire of life and death over the masses of humans on this planet unless they can control the access to food and nutritional supplements. So it is not surprising that the Congressional whores in Washington have been paid to limit your and my access to food and food supplements -
for our safety of course!
So wave after wave of attempts are being mounted to accomplish this goal.
You must take action now to defend your right to

real food and nutritional supplements.

He who controls your food, controls you.
Therefore, you better control it yourself.
Enjoy. Learn. Think. Act. Share.

02/04/10 -
UPDATE: while the fake "Food Safety" Bill S510 remains stalled in the Senate, after our November Blitz sent more than 150,000 emails to the Senate over one long weekend, this week Sen John McCain announced that he was offering another "safety" bill, S 3002. This alleged "safety" bill is aimed at the type of food called "Dietary Supplement" in a blatant attempt to undermine your freedom to access high potency vitamins, minerals and other dietary supplements which Americans have enjoyed since a unanimous Congress adopted the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA). The McCain bill seeks to overthrow major provisions of the current law and force "HARMonization" with international Codex Alimentarius (so-called "World Food Code") restrictions on our food and health freedoms.
See our analysis of the bill at:
http://www.healthfreedomusa.org/?p=4608 and please take the Action below; we've modified it to include the new bill; please send this new message to your Senators, even if you've already used the earlier version of this Action Item. 11/17/09 - UPDATE: the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP Committee) "marked-up" S.510, the Senate version of the (sic) "Food Safety" bill on Tuesday, November 18, 2009. This is the last step before a full Senate vote. The Senate bill can be read at: http://www.thomas.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:S.510: -- this bill has an even weaker Family Farm and Ranch, Community and Home Garden exemption than the bill (HR.2749) which passed the House at the end of July. Some minor changes were made, as a result of hundreds of thousands of emails to decsion makers generated from this Action Item and other citizen actions -- so now it's time to continue to Push Back! We have until early in the new year to make our voices heard, since the Senators, after considering the nearly 150,000 messages they received from this Action Item, will not vote on the bill until January. For updates: see our blog entry at:

HELP Chairman Sen. Tom Harkin, mentioning “public concerns” (namely your Push Back!) and the Committee’s desire to protect family farms and organic agriculture, confirmed (about minute 58.5 of the "Mark-up" hearing video archive at the HELP site) that Codex Alimentarius (the so-called World Food Code) does not trump the Dietary Supplement Health and Safety Education Act of 1994 (the law that allows the USA to have the most potent nutrients and most vibrant nutrient market in the world) “DSHEA … governs the law here, not Codex standards…” Chairmen Harkin further stated: the provision in bill that requires FDA to “make recommendations including whether to harmonize whth Codex does not signal any intent to move in a different direction on DSHEA…”
2010 UPDATE: THESE PROMISES ARE NOT ENOUGH! WE CALL UPON ALL SENATORS TO OPPOSE JOHN MCCAIN'S "BACK DOOR" ATTACK ON DSHEA: DO NOT CO-SPONSOR HIS "DIETARY SUPPLEMENT SAFETY ACT OF 2010"!

PLEASE TAKE THE ACTION BELOW TODAY!
[Message goes to the President, your Senators and the HELP Comment Email Address]
NOTE: If you have already taken this Action Item, we encourage you, and every member of your family and circle of contacts to do so again since it has been amended to reflect the passage of HR 2749 on July 30, 2009 after two failed attempts on the previous days, the "mark-up" of the Senate version, S510 in November 2009 and McCain's February 2010 gambit to extend the attack to Dietary Supplements. If passed by the Senate, in any form, the Food Fascism Bill will guarantee the loss of clean, healthy food, high potency dietary supplements and independent farming in the US -- and the complete industrialization of the US food supply. Now the question is what will the Senate do?
We did manage to get some protective exemptions into the House bill for small farmers who sell food directly to consumers or to restaurants, but they are, frankly, weak and will not be enough to protect your food or our farmers. But the Senate bill has much weaker protections, just mentioning minor exemptions for restaurants once and farms twice. McCain's "Dietary Supplement Safety" bill is an obvious attempt to get the stalled (sic) "food safety" show going again.
We need to rally people immediately to submit the below email message to the Senate and to visit with their Senators at home to demand accountable voting on this bill.
The Obama administration is pushing new farm controls which will drive small and independent farmers off the land, literally leaving the field to Agribiz, (implementing all of Codex through complete HARMonization and allowing the FDA to declare Marshal law) through Congress as fast as possible and have coordinated the House bills so there will be no debate and committee meetings are closed. The story will not be the same in the Senate, if we can generate enough public outrage!
Transparency, change, undoing Bush's regulations, giving the public time to comment, grassroots anything? None are visible in the current legislative process. Our entire food system, and thus our health, is being given to the last people with any interest in quality or safety: Big Abgribiz. This is going on in the absence of public scrutiny. Those who do know what is happening, of course, have zero access to the process and to the major media. Meanwhile, the media is absent while Congress is moving at warp speed to sew this up.
There will be no direct, frontal assault on organic farming and dietary supplements, but an insidious process of "infecting" organic farming and nutrient products with regulations, "traceability" requirements, required practices and prohibitions enforced by truly draconian fines and prision terms for even minor offenses running to hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars and 8 years in prison for minor offenses... all under the guise of fake "food safety."
Example: imagine Joel Salatin's wonderful organic farm under the direction of the USDA, with detailed instructions on what he must feed and when, how he must medically "treat" his animals and with what, what he must "spray" and when, ... you get the picture. These bills will industrialize all farms and insure the farmers are forced to buy chemicals and drugs. Organic is dead. As well as human control over the food supply. As well as health.
H.R. 2749 includes a weak exemption for farmer to consumer or restaurant sales because of the Push Back we generated. But the bill has now passed the House and it is imperative that NO version of "food safety" pass the Senate. More Push Back is needed for more protection for dietary supplements, farmers, gardeners, community farming, all local food production (including yours!) and food processing.
We've set up an Action Item for you to send an unmistakable message to your Senators. We must educate the Senate that you value DSHEA, organic farmers and small farming and do not - do not - want independent farmers regulated out of existence. You do not want "Big Agrabiz" regulations applied to organic and small family farms and ranches or to natural/organic food products, including Dietary Supplements.
We have prepared the following Petition to Congress with regard to this matter:
-------------------------PETITION(2010 Changes in Red)
To Amend S.510 or Any Food or Dietary Supplement Safety Modernization Act or Similar Bill
By the Addition of the
Natural and Family Food and Farming Exclusion AmendmentAnd by Defeating Any Attempt to Add John McCain's Fake"Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010" Provisions to S510

To: The Members of the Senate of the United States of America:

Whereas the proposed Food Safety Administration within the Department of Health and Human Services should focus its activities on the significant public administration issues involving the capacity of large scale, industrialized agriculture to threaten public safety,

Whereas dietary supplements, organic and natural agriculture, family farms and ranches, and natural or organic food products, including dietary supplements are not a significant part of the food safety problem, and

Whereas Congress previously provided for an exemption for natural food dietary supplements from the increased agency authority granted by the FDA Modernization Act of 2007, through a rule of interpretation, added as section 1011 of that Act, and has on numerous occasions exempted small and family farms from the same level of regulation as has been deemed necessary in the case of industrialized agriculture,

The citizens ascribing to this Petition therefore hereby request that any Food Safety Modernization Act identical or similar to HR 2749 be defeated, or that it, or any substitute for it be amended to exclude organic and natural agriculture, family farms and ranches, and natural or organic food products, including dietary supplements, through a rule of interpretation, as follows:

“Rule of Interpretation

“No provision of this act shall be deemed to apply (a) to any home, home-business, homestead, home or community gardens, small farm, organic or natural agricultural activity, (b) to any family farm or ranch, or (c) to any natural or organic food product, including dietary supplements regulated under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994.”

We also note the language of the Fair Labor Standards Act, 29 USC sec 203 (s) (2) which provides, "(2) Any establishment that has as its only regular employees the owner thereof or the parent, spouse, child, or other member of the immediate family of such owner shall not be considered to be an enterprise engaged in commerce or in the production of goods for commerce or a part of such an enterprise..." Language such as this would be helpful to allay our concerns. If the FDA Center for Food Safety is to be moved into a new Food Safety Agency, then Dietary Supplements, regulated as foods under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) should be included in such agency, with the proviso that such substances, as foods, are deemed safe when used as directed.
We oppose any bill which undermines the provisions of DSHEA and call for extending those protective provisions as has been proposed by Rep. Dr. Ron Paul of Texas. No provision of the fake "Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010" should be included in S510 or adopted individually; we call upon all Senators to refuse to co-sponsor Sen. McCain's bill which threatens our Health Freedom and our rights under DSHEA.

Furthermore, the ascribing citizens Petition the Congress of the United States to declare it the public policy of the United States that organic and natural agriculture, home and community gardens, family farms and ranches, and natural or organic food products, including dietary supplements shall be at all times free from suit, vexation, trouble, penalty, or loss of their goods, for the inestimable values they confer upon the public.

February 14, 2010
Subject: Dear Senator"The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act" - S.510
Sen. McCain's (sic) "Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010"
Natural Solutions Foundation, www.HealthFreedomUSA.org, as part of its efforts to educate Congress regarding the inestimable benefits of health and food freedom, has asked its hundreds of thousands of supporters, with many of your constituents, including me, among them, to alert you to our deep concerns for the protection of organic and small family farms and ranches from new legislation and regulation that is more properly applied to large-scale agricultural businesses. The net result of S.510, and any like it, will be to industrialize the food production of the United States with near total loss of small scale, wholesome and community-based farming. This is a loss that neither our society nor our collective health status can afford.
Our concern focuses on legislation to establish a “Food Safety Administration within the Department of Health and Human Services.” This bill is H.R. 2749 which passed the House of Representatives on July 30, 2009 despite intense opposition from the people of the United States. The Senate will soon consider a similar bill. While we do support DIVESTING THE FDA and USDA of their often mis-used food authority, I adamantly oppose the bill which the House passed and strongly OPPOSE S.510 which has even weaker protections for family farms than the House bill. AS MY ELECTED SENATOR, I URGE YOU TO VOTE AGAINST THESE BILLS and any similar substitutes. WE NEED PROTECTION FOR LOCAL, NATURAL AND ORGANIC FOOD AND FOR DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS TOO.
If the Senate insists upon passing these dangerous and ill-advised bills, it is urgently important that you write into these bills specific language protecting organic and small family farms and ranches as well as family and personal food production. These enterprises and all natural products, including organic and natural food products and Dietary Supplements, must be unambiguously exempted from the controls of these bills.
Such products and such farms and ranches are not part of the food safety problem. They are, in fact, the true food safety system. The problem is with mega-farms and agra business facilities.
H.R. 2749 included a weak exemption for farmer-to-consumer or farmer-to-restaurant sales, that is not enough! S.510 has even weaker exemptions!
We, the health and freedom focused eaters of the United States demand that our natural and organic food products, Dietary Supplements and their producers be protected from the increased regulation of food producers provided in these pending bills and any similar enactments.
Thank you for your urgent attention to this matter. Health Freedom is Our First Freedom and I look to you to protect it for all Americans.
While the Senate HELP Committee "marked-up" the bill on November 18, 2009, some minor changes were made offering some small small improvements, but the specific language recommended here is the minimum we must have to protect important citizen interests.
Addendum: Kindly accept this PETITION requesting that Congress amend the pending bills to include a specified Rule of Interpretation:
